Now in its third year the Isle of Wight Literary Festival has become firmly established in the event calendar. This unique boutique event has attracted many household names in the past, including Penelope Keith, Sir Max Hastings, Kate Mosse, Gyles Brandreth and Louis de Bernières, to name but a few... This year's festival will be held from 16th -19th October at Northwood House, St Mary’s Church and the Trinity Theatre in Cowes. We are also planning a number of exciting fringe events to be held in and around the town.
Our line up for 2014 includes: SIMON CALLOW, renowned actor, director, author and journalist; ALAN TITCHMARSH, TV presenter and author; SHEILA HANCOCK actress and author; BRIAN ALDISS, the elder statesman of Sci-Fi; and NEIL OLIVER, presenter of ‘Coast’. TRISTRAM HUNT, politician, activist, historian, broadcaster and newspaper columnist, will be joined by PHILIP HOOK from ‘The Antiques Roadshow’, along with ANN WIDDECOMBE, writer and former politician, novelists KATIE FFORDE and DAISY GOODWIN as well as JOHN HARVEY, the well known crime writer. Other guests set to draw the crowds include: author CHARLES SPENCER; celebrity and best-selling writer KATIE PRICE; and JAY RAYNER, the food critic and writer.
Our Programme director for this year is MAGGIE HANBURY, London literary agent and proprietor of The Hanbury Agency. Maggie was given the Literary Agent of Year Award in 2013.
